Department of Government

Application Procedure

You can only become an exchange student at our department if there is an official agreement between your home university and our department. We do not accept students outside of these agreements.

If you have decided to come to Uppsala to study at our department, you should contact your home university about how to be nominated for an exchange. Universities have only a limited number of exchange places, and there can often be quite a lot of competition for these places. Therefore universities have their own selection processes and deadlines.

1. Application to the Programme

Application to the exchange programme has thus to be made via your own university or department. Once you have been selected your university or department will contact us and "nominate" you as their candidate for Uppsala University. Nominated students will be admitted to the programme within the limits of the exchange quota agreed between your own university and the Department of Government at Uppsala University. On acceptance of your nomination, you will receive information about the next steps you have to take in order to attend our department, and how to apply for courses

2. Application for accommodation

At Uppsala University there are no halls of residences, colleges or other forms of "university housing". All rooms that students live in are regular rooms owned by a variety of different housing companies. These rooms are adminstered by the Housing Office. The Housing Office has a detailed website explaining all you might need to know about housing in Uppsala (and a lot more!).

To guarantee access to the programme, you must be nominated
no later then 15th April regarding the subsequent autumn semester or academic year, and no later then 15th October regarding the spring semester.
