Daniel Nohrstedt is associate professor of political science at the department of Government, Uppsala University where he received his Ph.D. in 2007. In 2011, Daniel was a visiting scholar in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver, USA.
Daniel is currently a member of the Editorial Board for Springer book series Environmental Hazards. He is also member of the editorial board for the Policy Studies Journal and Risks, Hazards and Crisis in Public Policy.
Daniel's research focuses on the policy process with a special emphasis on crisis and disaster management policy, including the structure and behaviour of crisis response networks, inter-organizational collaboration and the dynamics of policy-oriented learning and change. His current research (funded by the Swedish Research Council FORMAS) centers on the performance of local-level emergency response networks. He collaborates with colleagues internationally on the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF). For example, he contributed to a special issue devoted to the ACF in the Policy Studies Journal (Vol 3, Issue 3, 2011) and is co-editing a forthcoming special issue in the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis on Comparative Analyses of Policy Change.
Daniel has taught courses in public policy analysis, crisis management, political psychology, international politics, research design an methods. He has supervised undergraduate theses at the Department of Government at Uppsala University and at the Political Science program at the Swedish National Defence College. As of 2011, he is teaching at the graduate program at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. Daniel is the director of PhD studies for the research school within the Center for Natural Disaster Science (CNDS).
