BACKGROUND
Daniel Nohrstedt is associate professor of political science at the department of Government, Uppsala University where he received his Ph.D. in 2007. In 2011, Daniel was a visiting scholar in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver, USA. In 2011-2013, Daniel is a researcher within the Center for Natural Disaster Science focusing his research on organizational collaboration in natural hazards. Daniel is currently a member of the Editorial Board for Springer book series Environmental Hazards.
RESEARCH
Daniel's research focuses on the policy process with a special emphasis on crisis and disaster management policy, including the structure and behaviour of crisis response networks, inter-organizational collaboration and the dynamics of policy-oriented learning and change. His current research (funded by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency) centers on the performance of emergency response networks. He collaborates with peers internationally on the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF). For example, he contributed to a recent special issue devoted to the ACF in the Policy Studies Journal (Vol 3, Issue 3, 2011) and is co-editing a forthcoming special issue in the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis on Comparative Analyses of Policy Change.
TEACHING
Daniel has taught courses in public policy analysis, crisis management, political psychology, international politics, research design an methods. He has supervised undergraduate theses at the Department of Government at Uppsala University and at the Political Science program at the Swedish National Defence College. As of 2011, he is teaching at the graduate program at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. Daniel is also course coordinator for Introduction to Natural Disaster Science within SENDIM, the research school within the Center for Natural Disaster Science.
